Classroom
Resources
A growing library of ready-to-use lesson plans, lab activities, design challenges, and project-based units — all STEELS-aligned, teacher-tested, and free for staff in IU29's 12 public school districts.
Grab-and-Go Materials
Built for Real Classrooms
Every resource in the IU29 library was developed with Schuylkill County classrooms in mind — not repurposed from somewhere else, not a vendor product, not theory. These are materials that teachers have actually used, refined, and taught with.
All materials are tagged to Pennsylvania STEELS standards, organized by subject area and grade band, and available at no cost to staff in IU29's 12 public school districts. The library grows every year — and you can contribute to it.
Ready-to-Use Lesson Plans
Standards-tagged, teacher-tested, and grab-and-go ready. Every lesson plan includes objectives, materials, procedure, and STEELS alignment documentation.
Lab & Design Challenges
Hands-on investigations aligned to the 3-dimensional STEELS framework — including anchor phenomena, student data collection, and sense-making routines.
Project-Based Learning Units
Multi-week units with driving questions, anchor phenomena, student investigations, and culminating design or performance tasks. Built for sustained, deep learning.
What You'll Find
Four types of classroom materials — each designed to save you planning time without sacrificing quality or alignment.
Ready-to-Use Lesson Plans
Complete lesson plans with objectives, materials lists, step-by-step procedures, and STEELS standards documentation — ready the day you download them.
Lab & Design Challenges
Hands-on science investigations and engineering design challenges aligned to 3D STEELS — with student data sheets, teacher guides, and sample work.
Assessment Tools
Formative and summative options — rubrics, checklists, claim-evidence-reasoning prompts, and computational thinking assessments designed for STEELS.
Project-Based Learning Units
Multi-week PBL units with driving questions, anchor phenomena, and culminating tasks. Built for sustained inquiry — not just surface engagement.
Organized by STEELS Domain
Every resource is tagged to one or more STEELS domains — making it easy to find what fits your curriculum sequence.
Life Science
3.1 standards — K–12. Ecosystems, heredity, evolution, and biological systems. Includes cross-disciplinary lessons connecting life science to robotics and engineering.
Physical Science
3.2 standards — K–12. Matter, energy, forces, and waves. Hands-on investigations and design challenges connecting chemistry and physics to real-world phenomena.
Earth & Space Science
3.3 standards — K–12. Earth's systems, climate, and place in the universe — including local watershed investigations and human impact studies.
Environmental Literacy
3.4 standards — K–12. Ecological thinking, environmental stewardship, and MWEE-aligned field experiences including the Shared Waters program.
Technology & Engineering
3.5 + ETS standards — K–12. Engineering design challenges, robotics integration, K'Nex competitions, and Hummingbird-based T&E lessons across grade levels.
Computer Science & Computational Thinking
Coding, robotics, and algorithm design — from Scratch and Hummingbird for younger students to computational thinking assessment frameworks for middle school.

in Your Classroom
The IU29 resource library is built on teacher expertise. If you've developed a lesson, lab, or unit that's working well — and it's aligned to STEELS — we'd love to review it for inclusion.
All submissions are reviewed for STEELS alignment and classroom practicality before publishing. We handle the formatting — you just share what you know.
Submit a Resource →STEELS Alignment Review
IU29 staff check every submission against the standards before it goes live.
Credit to You
Your name, school, and district are credited on every resource you contribute.
Shared Across the County
Accepted resources go into the library shared across IU29's 12 public school districts.
"The IU29 resource library has changed how I plan. Instead of starting from scratch every unit, I have a solid STEELS-aligned foundation I can build from — and my students are actually more engaged because the materials are designed for the kind of learning the standards are asking for."
