Chief Science Officers

How Action Plans Work

A Chief Science Officer moves from an idea at LTI to a school-approved proposal, documented implementation, and year-end reflection.

From Brainstorm to Approved Proposal

The process begins at the Leadership Training Institute and returns to the student's school team before the final proposal is shared.

Brainstorm at LTI

CSOs generate ideas and complete an Initial Action Plan Form during the required Leadership Training Institute.

Meet With the School Team

Within one month after LTI, CSOs meet with their school team and CSO Advisor to develop a Final Action Plan proposal.

Secure Administrator Approval

The school site administrator reviews and approves the Final Action Plan.

Share the Final Plan

The approved proposal is shared with CSO International through the online platform by November 1.

Students may work together or independently: A CSO may complete a group Action Plan or an individual Action Plan.

Four Reports Across the Year

Quarterly Reports document what CSOs have done and ask them to estimate how many people their work has impacted.
